The Plot

Marty McFly, a typical American teenager of the Eighties, is accidentally sent back to 1955 in a plutonium-powered DeLorean “time machine” invented by slightly mad scientist. The Verdict

There is a slight chance it may overload...The cool part about this movie is all the kick ass ‘Huey Lewis and the News’ they have playing, I dig that band. This movie is pretty much a must see, and 99.999% of anyone that likes movies will have already seen this movie, but for the select few of you that haven’t seen this flick lets get down with the play by play. We open up with a panning shot of a house covered in clocks that are set 25 minutes slow and a tv report talking about a plutonium theft. Marty enters the house and we find out that his friend ‘Doc Brown’ an eccentric inventor is not there leaving Marty alone in the house with a giant speaker. Marty quickly plugs in his guitar and turns everything on as far as it will go and it explodes. Soon after we get a phone call from Doc saying that he needed his help later that night and that the the clocks were 25 minutes slow due to an experiment. Marty is now late for school and skateboards to school using passing cars as a boost.

Skateboarding to school(Fast forward and a quick Recap) The present time for Marty is in the year 1985, his dad is basically a tool that gets bossed around and bullied by a guy named ‘Biff’, its a low-middle class environment, and Marty’s siblings are average and working dead in sort of jobs, Marty’s mom is overweight, and the car that he needs to take his girlfriend to the lake with is now wrecked. Marty also has aspirations of owning a Toyota 4×4 but is basically stuck wishing for it.

Wait a minute, Doc. Ah… Are you telling me that you built a time machine… out of a DeLorean?

DamnMarty goes to help Doc with his experiment at the ‘Twin Pines Mall’ parking lot. Doc has created a time machine out of a DeLorean and uses his dog Einstein as a guinea pig. The experiment is a success but the fuel source is depleted, but luckily Doc has some more. The fuel is plutonium, and Doc had acquired it from some Libyans that hired him to make them a bomb with it. The Libyans come and shoot Doc and chase Marty off who has now entered the DeLorean and is accelerating as fast as he can. Once the DeLorean reaches 88 m.p.h. it activates the ‘Flux Capacitor’ which is the component that makes time travel possible. Marty shoots off into the exact geographical point he was in but now it’s 1955 and the mall doesn’t exist. As he is plowing through a field he runs into a barn owned by Old man Peabody. Peabody finds the DeLorean in his barn with Marty in a radiation suit and he think’s hes an alien and tries to shoot him. Marty takes off out of the barn and plows over one of the two pine tree saplings that Peabody was growing leaving only one (which is why the mall is called ‘Lone Tree Mall’ later in the film).

The plutonium has ran out leaving Marty stranded in the past. Marty inadvertently meets his own father and accidentally stops him from meeting his mother. Marty is now known as Calvin Klein because that’s the name on his underwear. Since Marty’s dad is such a introvert and a coward and didn’t meet his future wife (a beautiful girl) naturally he lacks the courage to ask her to the dance where they fall in love. Marty dresses back up in his radiation suit and wakes him up with loud Van Halen music and says his name is Darth Vader from the planet Vulcan, and that if he doesn’t take her to the dance that he will melt his brain which motivates his dad to pursue his future mom a bit more.

Flux CapacitorThe plan is to have Marty take his mom to the dance and be really forward with her and have his dad step in and ‘save her’ which backfires a bit. Meanwhile Marty meets up with Doc and shows him the video tape of the time traveling experiment which makes the Doc from the past believe him. The Doc from the past has to come up with a way of getting the 1.21 gigawatts of power needed to power up the Flux Capacitor and send Marty ‘Back to the Future’. The power source has to be a bolt of lightning, which as the future history has said that the clock tower in the middle of town gets hit by a bolt of lightning around the time of the dance and stops working. Doc plans to rig a large hook to the DeLorean that will connect to a wire he will run from the clock and over the road Marty will drive over. Marty must be at 88 mph at the exact moment that the lightning hits the clock to send him back in time.

Meanwhile Marty is at the dance and starts to act like he is coming on to his mom, Biff opens the door and starts to force himself on her. Biff’s goons take Marty and shove him in the trunk of the car that the dance’s band is taking a break in. The band gets out and helps pry Marty out of the trunk but the guitarist hurts his hand in the process making him unable to play. Marty rushes back to the car containing his mom only to find that his father had went to the car as expected but found Biff forcing himself on a girl and punched him out. So Marty’s parents are together and Marty is filling in for the guitarist. After his parent’s kiss he bolts for the DeLorean and even though there were some mishaps he makes it back to the future and he bolts for the ‘Lone Pine Mall’ to see Doc get shot by the Libyans and himself go back in time. As Marty rushes over to Doc he finds that he was wearing a vest due to a note that Marty had left for him warning of the grisly events. Doc takes the DeLorean that Marty arrived in and goes to the future and Marty goes home.

Where we're going, we don't need roads...He wakes up in a totally different environment, his parents are wealthy, he father wrote a book, his siblings are successful, mis mom is thin, and Biff is subservient to his father. As Marty goes to the garage he finds that he owns that Toyota 4×4 that he wanted and his girlfriend arrives. Out of nowhere Doc arrives and raids their trashcan to put into a new device installed on the DeLorean that converts trash into fuel. He says that something has to be done about their kids and he takes them to the future in the DeLorean that can now fly. The End. I rate this movie a 9/10 for it’s original story and awesome quotes.
