Set in Coburn University, the movie centers around Felix’s (Steve Lemme) relationship with Suzanne (Kayren Butler), who has been designated as Matt (Paul Soter) and Grogan’s (Kevin Heffernan) defense in a trial after being caught breaking in to the campus cafeteria. Zach (Jay Chandrasekhar) tags along while Freaky Reaky (Erik Stolhanske) steals the show.

The Verdict

This movie the first film by the Broken Lizard comedy group. Broken Lizard for those of you who aren’t familiar with the group, were the guys who made ‘Super Troopers’ and ‘Beerfest’ which are in my opinion some of the funniest movies I’ve ever watched. The plot to this film is pretty simple, we have a guy that falls in love with a girl thats in an open relationship. Her boyfriend is a giant rugby player that lives quite a ways away, and she starts seeing the main character Felix played by Steve Lemme.

After a while she falls in love with him too, and in a way to prove how macho he is, Felix joins the rugby team. During a trip back home over a weekend, she breaks up with the giant to be with Felix. As it turns out, Felix’s team plays her ex-boyfriend’s team and she tries and tries to get Felix to quit the team and stay safe but Felix doesn’t listen and she threatens to leave him. Still Felix plays and her ex-boyfriend kicks the crap out of him, leaving him in a partial body cast because he didn’t back down. Although she was mad at Felix, she basically just gives in and takes him back. The End.

I rate this movie a 5/10 for the average story and mediocre comedy. I can’t be too harsh on these guys because they really ARE funny but this was their first film. Not only was this the first film, but it was also an Independent film that did well at the Sundance Film Festival.
