Movie Review of Robocop 2 (1990)
The Trailer
The Plot
After a successful deployment of the Robocop Law Enforcement unit, OCP sees its goal of urban pacification closer and closer. But as this develops, a new narcotic known as “Nuke” invades the streets, leaded by God-delirious leader Kane. As this whole menace grows, it may even prove to be too much for Murphy to handle. OCP tries to replicate the success of the first unit, but ends up in failed prototypes with suicidal issues… until Dr. Faxx, scientist straying away from OCP’s path uses Kane as the new subject for the Robocop 2 project, a living God.

The Verdict
Omni Consumer Products better known as OCP has a plan to take Detroit and convert it into a modern paradise. Through a binding legal contract that lets OCP take the city from the government and privatize it, they plan to make it happen. The Detroit government has to pay like $37 million dollars to OCP or forfeit the city to the private company. OCP has planned the entire thing as well as engineering a police strike and rampant crime due to no law enforcement.
So basically Robocop is the last line of defense between the hardened criminals of Detroit and the good citizens. Robocop is caught and dismantled and has to be re-assembled by the factory which totally messes with his protocols and actions. To get rid of the crap programming he shocks himself… yeah… all better, that was easy. There is a new chick thats boning the CEO of OCP and wants to make a new cyborg to replace Robocop. All of the tries they have made so far from good honest cops ended in disaster and death, so she has the brain-fart idea to use a death row inmate or a psychotic killer instead because she is apparently hooked on stupid pills. So they make a new cyborg they name ‘Robocop 2′ (har har) and it goes crazy and starts tearing up the town, and only Robocop (1) can stop it.
Am I the only one that thinks the drawn out fight at the end of the film looked like toys fighting on an episode of ‘Robot Chicken’ on Adult Swim? And another thing, It’s really funny to me that Robocop 1 has to kill Robocop 2. Think about it, Robocop 1 was a awesome movie, and Robocop 2 basically sucked. I like to think of that last fight between Robocop 1 and 2 where #1 kicks #2′s ass, as a giant metaphor for the way this movie got it’s ass handed to itself by the first movie.
To anyone that reads this that happens to be a huge Robocop 2 fan, I’m sorry for the harsh words on your favorite movie, but since that person doesn’t exist I don’t quite feel so bad. It’s not that this movie is a BAD movie, it’s just not a good movie and I can see why Peter Weller decided not to be in Robocop 3. I rate this movie a 5/10 for it’s action figure fight scenes and average action.
PS. Was there no Title Screen in this movie? Seriously, I couldn’t find one….
