The Governor of Bank Indonesia, Perry Warjiyo, recently held a position handover (Sertijab) conducted to the new Head of BI Representative of New York, Dwityapoetra Soeyasa Besar, replacing M. Noor Nugroho, who previously served as Acting. BI Chief of Representative of New York.
Sertijab was held in mid-February 2019 in the Conrad Hotel meeting room, Manhattan, New York and was also attended by the Deputy Permanent Representative to the United Nation, representatives of the New York Consulate General Office, and various guests from New York and surrounding business circles.
“Bank Indonesia encourages the expansion of investment through strengthening the role of Bank Indonesia Representative Offices (KPw BI) abroad,” Perry Warjiyo said in a press release received by VOA New York.
Perry emphasized that the strengthening of the role of KPw BI, especially in America, will be carried out through four things, namely: First, organizational reform and human resources. Second, the role of foreign BI KPws in encouraging investment in Indonesian trade and tourism, as well as working together and coordinating with embassies, consulates, investors, communities and various stakeholders.
Third, reaching out to the needs of stakeholders by managing diplomatic relations and international cooperation with stakeholders. The fourth strengthening by increasing the role in supporting the implementation of foreign exchange management.
While the new BI Chief Representative, Dwityapoetra Soeyasa Besar, previously served as Head of BI South Sulawesi, was a Master of International Banking graduate from Columbia University, New York, and earned a Doctorate from Cass Business School, City University of London. Also known as a lecturer in Banking at the Faculty of Economics, University of Indonesia and Trisakti University.
The event continued with business discussions between Bank Indonesia officials and business people from the city of New York, New Jersey and surrounding areas.
